Spanish and Portuguese, and what the site list omits

Spanish and Portuguese appear in both declared site lists. Neither vendor distinguishes European from Latin American variants in its declared alternates, so the lists cannot tell a reader which variant a page or a voice would use. As of 2026-09-12.

Inclusion rule. Only languages declared as same-domain hreflang alternates are listed. Product-side coverage is not shown per language because neither vendor enumerates its spoken-language list. Order. Vendors that declare the market first, then what neither declares.

1The variant question is the one that matters here and nobody declares it

Brazilian and European Portuguese differ enough that audiences notice immediately, and the same is true of Latin American and peninsular Spanish. An hreflang tag can carry that distinction; neither vendor uses one that does.

So the register records es and pt as declared and notes that the variant is not. For a producer serving Brazil that is the single most relevant unpublished fact in this whole page.

2Two large markets sharing one cell

Latin America is the largest vertical drama audience outside Asia, and in this register it is represented by two undifferentiated language codes on two vendors. That is a thin evidence base for a region that size, and the thinness is the finding rather than a gap in the reading.

Six of the eight tools here declare nothing at all, so for most of the market the answer is not even two codes.

3What a declared code can and cannot support

It supports a claim that the vendor serves a Spanish page and a Portuguese page from its own domain. It does not support any claim about which variant, about voice, or about how generated dialogue would sound to an audience in São Paulo rather than Lisbon.

The register keeps the columns apart so that the declared code cannot be read as covering the other questions, which is the mistake it would be easiest for a reader in a hurry to make.
